Why Didn't They Understand?

Sometimes God may hide things from us. He hid the "Mystery" from the 12 Apostles. God had hidden the "Mystery" from the devil and his angels since before the world began. The resurrected Jesus revealed the "Mystery" to Paul in Arabia over a 3 year period. Why did God hide this "Mystery"?
